Bundi in Monsoon
Bundi in Monsoon by @Kurt
In the northwest region of India, in Rajasthan, lays a small unexplored town of the hadoti called Bundi, also known as the blue city. We all know jodhpur to be the blue city, but Bundi is another city with the same name given that is yet a lot less explored. Another name given to Bundi is “choti kashi", named after the number of lakes and temples the town owns and the amount of rain it gets during monsoon.According to me, the monsoon is the best time to travel Bundi. During the monsoon, many small waterfalls, small water wells and lakes fills up to their peak. This is the time when every corner of Bundi gives a view of Rajasthan that’s lot greener. This is also the very best time to visit the Taraghar fort and if you get lucky, you might experience to see a leopard. As they sometimes enter the fort while looking for a shelter. But that's very rare, instead, you'll be meeting a group of monkeys that reside inside the fort only.
Apart from the natural beauty of Bundi it also has many architectural buildings for you to admire. According to me, this city could be a go to see for its particular architectural note that its ornate fort, palaces and stepwell basins also known as baolis or baoris has to bargain. So, if you really want to experience the city Bundi has to offer, you have to let yourself in on it so it could unleash its old charm on you.
When it comes to Rajasthan, everyone gets a mental image of deserts and low water level wells. But what is hard to find are the waterfalls of Rajasthan. I am sure there are many hidden locations in Rajasthan that has lot more greenery than that people have in knowledge. Bundi is amongst those locations.
Bhimlat waterfall (PC: @Lokender_Pilaniya) |
There are few waterfalls around Bundi, only the locals can tell you about them. One of them is the Bhimlat waterfall and the other one is the Menal Falls waterfall. For Bhimlat waterfall you have to drive out of bundi and have to cross the longest tunnel of Rajasthan. Have your eyes to see such a beauty in the desert is the most relishing moment. Menal Fall is also famous for an ancient Shiva Temple built next to it.
Rameshwar Mahadev Waterfall |
There is another waterfall which is next to the Rameshwar Mahadev temple right in the middle of Bundi and Kota. This waterfall is named as Rameshwaram Mahadev Waterfall. One can get a panoramic view of both the waterfall and the Mahadev temple its a bliss for one's eye to visit such an unexpected and unexplored place in the mid of Rajasthan.
