TOP 5 places to eat in Jaipur

TOP 5 places to eat in Jaipur according to @Kurt993

Being the capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur was always on my travel list. Jaipur city is beautifully amalgamated with both old and modern structures and historic architecture. I’ve traveled to almost all the major cities of Rajasthan, and I find there’s none other cities in Rajasthan other than Jaipur that has adopted new culture so well yet its originality still remained untouched.

Jaipur has its personal spirit and character. There are heaps of options in Rajasthani cuisine and plenty of markets open for you to enjoy shopping. For every historic place, Jaipur has something modern. There are many restaurants, small eateries, and cafés for one to hang out with their friends and family. Here I present the list of the new-age places to eat in Jaipur.

1135 AD, Amer Palace

1135 AD situated inside the Amer Fort is a must to visit if you are looking forward to eating something with a magnificent view of hills and forts. This restaurant is situated on the 3rd floor of Amer Fort. The dining here is superb with much of fine food with live music performances in the background. The aura of 1135 AD is trapped within its original artifacts, furniture and decor, and the mesmerizing view that it offers.

The twisty narrow gullies they’ll take you to the Fort are charming, to say is the least. With imperial interiors and regal furnishings, 1135 AD will take you to the Historic Rajpoot era. though the menu over here is not elaborated properly and has masses of Marwari cuisine.

Here, you can sit back and enjoy a glass of beer or wine with the food. Can you believe! It’s said 1135 AD is the second most visited historical restaurant in India.

Although, there are many other better places in Jaipur if you are looking for more or less authentic Rajasthani food. However, there aren’t many heritage cafés around with a gorgeous view to boot and you may want to visit it solely for that!

Must Try: Thaal-e-Amber (non-veg) and Thaal-e-Jodha (veg)

Cost for two people: 1000-1500 (approx)

On the House café

If you have to eat the best continental cuisine, then the best option is The On The House Cafe. This place is known for the best continental cuisine in Jaipur. The Cafe doesn’t showcase anything extraordinary, but it’s a lively place to rejuvenate yourself. It’s quiet, yet lively. With calm and ambient interiors you would not fail to feel like you have been translocated to a cafe in London. The café’s environment remains filled with lovely music and its interiors with most of the colors. The Cafe offers both indoor and outdoor seating for customers.

Their lamb burrito is sumptuous and the chicken in prawn sausage is a must to try. They offer a good variety of food and one will surely have a great time here. Their snack menu includes some exotic shakes, thin crust pizzas, and variety of pasta. I believe that one can never get enough of their unique lemon pies, the bread they offer and the Tiramisu and Danish pastries are so mouthwatering I can assure one’s experience of visiting Cafe will be relaxing and rejuvenating.

The café has warm hospitality and the great crowd could be expected all the time. The café remains as one of the reputed continental cuisines in Jaipur with the refreshing environment.

Must Try: Breakfast menu, Classic Nachos, Mezze Platter, and Dessert (Chocolate Bomb)

Cost for two people: 1000 - 1300 (approx)

Anokhi Café

Although the Café is not own the most sophisticated interiors and is not fancily decorated, and doesn’t have a lot of space. But, if you’re all about grabbing the taste of organic food then this place could be your favorite. Ambiance and taste and quality of food are the most important elements that made Anokhi Café be on my list.

Lebanese Platter, Caramel Walnut Tart, Decadent Chocolate Cheesecake and Blue Cheese and Walnut Salad are a must to try. They proudly call their food menu as “most organic”. Over here they offer crunchy, well-dressed salad, their sandwiches are thickly filled, the food looks very fresh. Their bagels, cream cheese pasta, and crunchy salads really rock this place.

They said they get their veggies for cooking from local farmers that grow organic vegetables. Those who think organic food is boring, Anokhi Cafe is a must to visit for them.

Must try: Caramel Walnut Tart and Blue Cheese and Walnut Salad.

Cost for two people: 750 (approx)

Tapri The Tea House

Tapri is a name given in the local Indian language to a small tea stall which is usually situated either at the corner of a street or outside college some campus or offices etc. But here in Jaipur Tapri is an old-fashioned tea house that gets away as a hangout spot that attracts book lovers and tea lovers.

The place is nice and cozy and embellished with beautiful decorations with colorful kettles, cutting chai glasses and some other interesting elements decorated on the walls.

The Tapri The Tea House also offers outside sitting for its customers. Apart from the outside seating they also have the terrace seating as well. One can watch the Sunset from the terrace of this cafe. The place opens at 7.30 AM which makes it a perfect place for breakfasts.

Must Try: Cutting Chai,  Tadka Maggie, Vada Pav

Cost for two people: 600 - 800 (approx)

Namaste Rajasthani Restaurant

This restaurant is situated on the Amer Road and is a must to visit according to me if one is eager to try the authentic Rajasthani food. One can visit this restaurant while returning back from the Amer Fort and Nahargarh Fort.

This place is best to try Lal Mass and Gatte ki sabzi. Try their Rajasthani thali if you want to taste a bit from every Rajasthani dish. They offer both nonveg and veg thali. One can keep this restaurant on their list for having a perfect Rajasthani dinner.

The restaurant has many Rajasthani paintings and wood carved jharokhas on its walls. One can enjoy the ambiance and the decors on its walls which looks so Rajasthani. Although there are many other best restaurant in Jaipur, this one offers one of the best Rajasthani food.

Must Try: Rajasthani Thai, Laal Maas, Gatte ki Subzi, and Kheer
